Business, Accounting and IT Student Group Prepares for the Future ...

Minnesota School of Business Lakeville DECA StudentsEarlier this year, students competed in many different events in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Collegiate DECA International Career Development Conference . Many of these students came from Globe University/ Minnesota School of Business. The rewards are greater than anyone can imagine.

Taking home trophies, plaques, and medals from these events is very nice, but the experience is what drives many of them to participate year after year. They get to?travel to different colleges and meet other students. They get to compete in many different areas including:

Each college that participates has its own DECA chapter. Each one has a set of bi-laws,
a leadership structure, and a faculty or staff advisor. The students vote new people in every year to act as President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The students that are put into these roles get the experience of managing a team while they are still in school. That is a great edition to the classroom education and service/applied learning projects that they are receiving in their Business and Accounting Programs. The website design would interest students in the Informational Technology Program trying to build their portfolios and experience while attending school.

Minnesota School of Business Lakeville DECA TeamThe Lakeville chapter got kicked off last week with their first meeting. They voted in their new leadership and got into the mode of planning this year?s events. They have a few invitational events before they arrive at the state competition in Mankato, Minnesota in February. They hope to do well again this year and return the International Conference at Disneyland in California in April.
